A combination of two Alpine red grapes, Schiava and Lagrein. Schiava is a bright, low tannin grape similar to Frapatto, while Lagrein, a relative of Syrah, is dark and chewy. Just north of Bolzano, Franz owns six hectares and leases an additional two.
