Interestingly, this wine is 100% Chavignol fruit. The appellation laws don’t allow that on the label, as LaPorte’s facility does not lie inside the village limits. “La Comtesse” is a single parcel of Sauvignon Blanc, fermented with native yeasts and 10% barrel-fermentation. It’s a richer expression of Sancerre, leaning into the decadent side of the area.
