100% Nebbiolo from a steep (30% grade) sloping vineyard in Vezza d’Alba. Hand harvested, soft pressed, macerated for six hours, and fermented and aged simple in stainless steel. Pours a lovely, almost coppery pale salmon color and shows a fairly aromatic nose of raspberry, peach and strawberry. Since this is Nebbiolo, there are hints of herbs and rose petal, but its more subdued here than in red wines made from the grape. Medium bodied, with great acidity and a soft, round mouth feel. Lots of stone fruit and brambly red berries on the dry but not zingy palate. Marco Porello is a third generation winemaker in Roero, although his family has been growing grapes and other fruit since the early 1800s.
